Official new best

With the tried and trusted Google maps route, I got 13:26! Not bad.
Yes I’m not running as much as I used to, but I’m cycling a lot more. By hook or by crook, I’ll reach 11 minutes.
No crappy traffic lights to stop me today (although I was kinda lucky with them being in my favour)

Did I even improve

I stopped the timer 5 times. But still, 13:52. If one day (probably tomorrow) I don't stop the timer but still get a crap timing, I'm fucking done. I can't even use the "you're almost there" excuse, let alone the "you're halfway there" or even "you're improving". Because I'M NOT EVEN IMPROVING BY A FUCKING MINUTE AFTER 2 FUCKING MONTHS.

How to demoralize yourself

1. Run the distance, and get 14min 03 seconds. And already feeling like I'm dying.

If this is the case, 40 seconds improvement in 50 days. It will take 3 months to reach 12 min.

Fuck.

12:47?

Seemed like I finished a run in 12:47. Will do it again. If I really am able to do it again, its an achivement already.

Next post (and Ghost month)

Business as usual during ghost month (8pm-11pm window for running)

Next post comes when I get 1 unique visitor. Until then, I'll say goodbye.

Running more

2.5km running + 7.4km cycling.
I can sustain 3:30min/km in the first minute or so. Multiply that by 9, and I'm done. Now to train so that I can do that. Doesn't seem so hard after all. (or so I say)

A good day in training

Probably the most productive day to me in terms of losing some weight. And I set a few new records. Yay!

33,377 Steps
76 floors climbed
26.8km Run/Walk distance

9am: Ran 3km
9:45am: Biked 3km

3:30pm: Went to hike up Bukit Timah Hill
and then hiked down to Hillview via the mountain biking trail which I shouldn't be going on. But it was fun!

9:30pm: Felt a surge of adrenaline. I don't know how, but it made me just feel like running again.
So I ended up running 3km more. Walked another 5km to get more steps (and because I felt like it)

Surging adrenaline really works. I can maintain about a minute of 3:30min/km pace! If I can keep this pace for 9 minutes, and only 9 minutes, I have accomplished my goal. But not today. I'll get there someday though.

Fasted Run

Ran about 2.7km at around 9:30am. I heard that it burns more fat because I'm in a faster state, but as a result, it was absolutely tiring. A whopping 21 minutes needed. Still better than the "2.4km in 24 minutes" guy I was known for in school. Time rebuild my pride.

Inaccurate distances

Used Runkeeper today. It says 2.51km in 14 minutes! Yay!
But wait. The path ran looks really jagged. Used google maps, and said that I only ran 2.3km. Time to adjust it!

2.4km in 14:36. Next time it is.

P.S Will run 2.6km in Runkeeper and it should be accurate enough.

Training turned trialing

All seems well when I hit 7.5 minutes at 1.4km (aka on track for 13 minutes), using the Speedometer app. And I hit reset. So I had to extract data from my phone and dreadful news: 15:20 for 2.43km. Time to install Runkeeper (not sure why I didn't do so at the start).

But more positives to take: I jogged the first 700 metres without stopping (and at respectable pace). Was just thinking I was doing a run until I realized I'm actually running quite well. So I started timing. And then I hit reset.

Looking forward to using Runkeeper for more accurate data.

Hurting joints

My joints hurt if I run. Till the point where it will hurt when I try to rush into the train. However, after I warm up, they dont anymore. I can run normally! Not sure why. Should I rest it? Don't wanna to get injured (obviously), but I'm motivated enough to continue running (almost) everyday. 9 minutes, here I come!

Primary objective: 11 minutes. Then I can officially abolish my reputation as "Fatfk that can't run".
Main objective: 9 minutes. Looking forward to this day. 1 year maybe? I will get there.

Another training session

Just another day of running. Gonna make this a routine. Running slow or fast, doesn't matter. So long as I get out there and excercise, should be good.

Jogged about 45 seconds for 1-1.5min of rest. But the jogging isn't fast, its just normal speed (slower than yesterday)

For the first time in years

Hopefully, in 2 weeks, I can go below 60kg for the first time in forever! (no frozen reference here)
Since P5 or so I'm kind of a fatass already. Been so long since I'm below 60kg. Once I get there, wow. It's been years.

More running and walking

More like "jogging fast" and "panting and strolling". Because in the "running" state, I'm basically trying to estimate how fast I'd have to run consistently to reach 9 minutes. Currently I'm doing about 30 seconds run and 1-1.5 minutes walk. Should I try sprinting? It will be absolutely tiring though

And of course, in just 2 weeks, I'm runing everything. First, dropping the phone and giving it a free crack. Now, rinsing earbuds in water and now they're damaged. (I'm an idiot). Hopefully putting it in rice overnight will work.

No more time trialing

Will stop timing myself on each run because I feel that it's demoralizing. I'll just run a distance (hopefully) everyday, so I keep training myself.

Update 3 August: Tried "Run 30 seconds walk 1.5 min" tactic. Felt MUCH better since I didn't clock time. Might do 1 time trial every 2 weeks or so, see if I improve.

Day 7

14:21! Although the main thing I did was to take a bus to the start instead of biking there. Not like it makes much of a difference.

800m: 4:40
1600m: 9:10ish?
2400m: 14:21

Should have hit 14 minutes because of the last crap. But I think I'm improving. I'm only 1 week in, See if I can hit 12 minutes in 1 month!

Looking at it 9 minutes is kinda hard. But take 1 step at a time. I'll get there slowly. *cue the motto*
If she can do it, WHY CAN'T I???

I should really rest my joints out. Hurtin a little.

Day 6 crap

I feel much better than on Saturday (mainly because I rested 1 day, and did not eat Mcdonalds an hour ago.) Guess what? 14:50. Nuff said. This is bullshit. Although I will NOT give up, but really, WHAT THE FU

Day 5

29 July, Day 5! (I didn't run yesterday)
14:31. Not bad, I'm happy with the result. Well mostly because my stomach felt uncomfortable (I knew eating 1 hour before running was a bad idea) so I had to not run so fast otherwise I'd vomit. I'd say I only ran 80% of what I'm capable of (a little stitch today, so I slowed down as well, pressed on that area and continued) Should be able to hit 14 minutes if I hadn't eat McDonalds 1 hour before running. Luckily it wasn't McSpicy.

I'll set a new short term goal: Wednesday, 2 August, I'll hit 13:30 (aka 4:30 per 400m, or 9 minute mile). Hit about 4:45 at the first checkpoint (800m) today, before slowing down. I can do it!

As a bonus, I ate an average of 1957 calories per day in the past week. Not trying to lose weight badly now, so I'm eating more than I used to. Then again, I'm burning an extra 150-200 calories on running days, so I'm probably still gonna lose weight. (Well I'm intending to drop more weight) I also drank protein shake on Day 2-4. But I've stopped doing so because I feel fat. (lame excuses ftw)

Stitching + Route markers

I didn't run today. Actually maybe I did run in the first half. Then I started getting stitches on both sides and walked the rest of the way. Let's just say I didn't do so well.

So I've taken this time to mark out route markers which will tell me if I should speed up. A bus stop at 800m (well, actually 840m. But meh it doesnt matter much), and a bend at 1.6km. With my ultimate aim, I should reach these targets at 3 minutes and 6 minutes, but for now, 4.5 minutes and 9 minutes will allow me to finish by 13.5 minutes (Timing can be adversely affected by the last piece of crap seperating me from the last 150 metres. If I timed it horribly, then I'll just have to pro-rate the timing)

Today I reached 840m at about 04:45. Reached 1.45km at 9 minutes and then walked the rest of the way.

Definitely running tomorrow because I am ashamed at my timing today.

Found a good route!

I found a good route! It's almost 2.4km guaranteed. Not only that, its actually quite peaceful because it passes by a park, and it's all not a main road with only 4 craps (traffic lights) in between. 3 of them are not main roads, so I would just run the red light. (Because screw waiting) The last one I'll just time my pace so that I don't need to wait there.

14:45 today. Although because of that 1 crap I can't beat (because it intersects a main road) I walked for like 1 minute. If not I think I could have done 14:15. First few minutes should be easy to check off, probably can do 12 minutes pretty fast. It'll be harder later on. Then again so long as I'm not the fatass (or Snorlax as some people called me) that finishes last in the class, I'm satisfied. (But I'm NOT happy yet. 9 minutes then I'll only have succeeded in my goal.)

Day 3

26 July is here! Ran again (obviously. I want to run 4 times a week)

Basically I am quite sure I ran enough (unlike day 1) so I used google maps to make sure I was running 2.4km accurately (more like 2.37km though)
I'm pretty happy with the timing. For the first 5 minutes I don't think I stopped much. But for the last 5 minutes I think I walked more than previous runs. What did I do? Blasted music through the earphones (and held it in my hand, not the pocket, so my phone doesn't get smashed. iPhone users, put 3 quarters volume through the earpods to see what I mean) 14 minutes 37 seconds/. Not bad! Drank some protein after the run (about 25 grams?)

Hopefully I can reach 12 minutes by end of August. Then I'll inch my way to the 9 minutes I so want to achieve. And yes, I'm running at night. Because it's cooler. I'll do a run in the day soon, see if time of day makes a difference.

If she can do it, WHY CAN'T I???

Damn traffic lights

What should I do when I encounter those damn things? Let the stopwatch run? Or pause it? But if I pause it i can catch my breath, which means time will be faster. But if I let it run, it will obviously increase my timing.
Running 6 rounds in the stadium is just too boring.

If I can't, then I must!

So after successfully losing some weight, I decided to redeem myself. In Secondary school I was pretty fat. I felt embarressed about me being so shite at running (aka 2.4km). I completed it in.... 24 minutes. 100 METRES A MINUTE!!! Probably because I gave up without trying to run. When I did  try to run in Sec 4 (or was it sec 3?) another embarressing result. 16 minutes 50 seconds. Now that i think of it did I even run the full 8 rounds??? I dont think so. I took SEVENTEEN minutes for 2 KM (not even 2.4km!)

I have to redeem myself. Secondary school is over, but better late than never. 2.4km in 9 minutes is my goal. Hopefully I can reach 12 minutes by mid September. I think I can. If she can do it (and my other friends, WHY CANT I???)

Day 1: 23/7
15 mins 29 seconds (Decent start. I think I should be doing better now that I lost weight. But then 1 year ago I cant even do it in 17 minutes, not too bad.)

24/7
15 mins 51 seconds. Well...
And to make things worse, my phone fell out. The case also came out. Free cracks to the screen! :D
But I shall not give up.

See if i can run 4 times per week. No more being a fatass that can barely run.

Me losing some weight

Just a year ago I weighed 72kg, reaching 74kg at my peak. Well that's bad. People called me fat (even my sister!) I used to drink loads of sugary drinks which I thought were healthy (idiot me). Until  I realised I looked like I'm exploding in my clothes, I (officially) started the dieting (and stuff) in April 2017. Now I'm around 63kg, so thats good. Yay! Only 4 months late.

After losing some weight, I'm determined to do more. Be more fit. I've started my own fitness program (is it called like that?) but I'll tell you more details tomorrow. (If I ever blog more)

Welcome!

Yay! I'm only a few years late to blogging. Here will be a guy trying to be better.
I mean, trying to lose weight and improve fitness. A few years late, but better late than never.
Started this blog to just write my thoughts and feelings because I want to write them down. No one will see this anyway (well maybe 10 people will)
If I get overly deep, I apologize in advance. I caught myself quite a few times doing this, so I'm sorry!
I know that I started off from scratch. But over time, I will hopefully blog more. In a few years, I'll look back at many posts and cringe at it. (Why am I saving stuff for future cringe? I dont know!)
